Get the slug for a WordPress custom taxonomy
If you’ve created a WordPress taxonomy, with a different slug for the rewrite value than the name of the taxonomy, you may want to know how to access that slug without hard-coding it. (e.g. for a custom rewrite rule)
You have a custom taxonomy like this, where the taxonomy name is
link-typeand the rewrite slug iscategory:$args = array( 'hierarchical' => true, 'labels' => $labels, 'show_ui' => true, 'query_var' => true, 'rewrite' => array( 'slug' => 'category', 'with_front' => false ), ); register_taxonomy( 'link-type', array( 'directory' ), $args );Then, wherever you want to access the slug of the taxonomy, it’s in the WP global
$wp_taxonomies:global $wp_taxonomies; echo $wp_taxonomies[ $taxonomy ]->rewrite[ 'slug' ]; // 'category' -
